STUDENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Looking for a fun and fulfilling opportunity to earn up to 8 volunteer hours for the TN Promise?

DSAMT organizes The Extra Mile® to celebrate and support individuals with Down syndrome and their families and to promote understanding and acceptance of those with Down syndrome. We expect to have about 4,000 participants from Middle Tennessee at this year’s walk. The Extra Mile is the largest Down syndrome awareness event in the state and our primary source of funding for our programs. 

It will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025 on the property of the Wilson County Ag Center 175 Peyton Road, Lebanon, TN 37087.

Volunteers at The Extra Mile® might be assigned to set up/ take down, cheer on those with Down syndrome, pass out information and prizes, take photos, registration table assistance, direct traffic or parking, or other tasks.
Our biggest need for volunteers is at 6:30 a.m., but we have the time frames of 6:30am to 10:30am, 9:00am to 1:00pm, and 11:30am to 3:30pm. While supplies last, we will have t-shirts for volunteers. If you were to sign-up at 6:30 and volunteer all day, you would get the full 8 hours.
